Jerry's tired old Gibson B-25 had survived a fire. It still smelled smoky when it was brought to us. Note part of the headstock was missing.
We were asked to "just make it look presentable" so most of the money went into structural repairs.
Inside the guitar, a previous owner had unsuccessfully tried to repair earlier damage. Large pieces of mahogany had been glued inside the back (photo left, under light).
Several braces had cracked or come unglued (arrow), and
the bridge had also come loose - of course!
The guitar had been stripped of all finish prior to the fire, so it required extensive sanding, grain filling and a new finish of hand-applied varnish which we custom mixed from shellac and other resins.
Jerry tells me he "loves that little guitar!"
