Eric S., AM3 U.S. Navy, who keeps our helicopters flying, brought his guitar with him on deployment on the USS Bunker Hill, CG-52. The ship made a port visit to Dubai, UAE last March, and 23 sailors volunteered in a community outreach program at the Al Noor Special Needs Center.

Eric sang songs and played guitar with the children, and we are very proud that our work was in a small way helpful to this occasion. (scroll all the way down for another photo at Al Noor)

Eric's ship, the guided missile cruiser Bunker Hill was part of the task force whose target was Osama bin Laden shortly after the Dubai visit.

Eric is very proud of the role he and his ship played in one of the most important missions in recent history.

Last year, he wanted to upgrade his nice but rather standard American Tele.

Eric chose a theme of all gold appointments, and a new neck. We supplied him with a birdseye maple neck, fitted with EVO fretwire (which is naturally gold colored).

We finished the neck in a gold-tinted amber nitro lacquer after inlaying it with paua abalone dots.

We topped it off with gold Grover tuners on which we installed custom pearl buttons.

The bridge position pickup was a custom ordered DiMarzio hum-cancelling Tele model with gold-plated rails, and the neck pickup is a Kent Armstrong hot-vintage, exactly the same as I use in my own Tele.

Finally, on the gold control panel, we installed gold knobs with abalone inserts, and I "dotted" his pillbox switch tip with an abalone inlay.

As you can see Eric's taste is impeccable!

Our thanks for spreading American good will go out to Eric and the crew of the Bunker Hill!
